Duplicate Natis Certificates

  • NOTE!!: A Duplicate Natis (RC1) can only be requested by the vehicle’s registered owner. No one else is authorized to apply on their behalf. To help you with this process, we have provided the required documents and information on this page.

Requirements for Individual

  1. Copy of RC1 or e-Natis document (if available)
  2. Copy of the owner’s ID (original ID card or green ID book)
  3. Proof of company address (utility bill or bank statement)
  • If the utility bill is not in your name, the bill’s owner must provide an affidavit confirming you live at that address, attaching the utility bill and a copy of their ID
  • If you reside in an informal settlement, bring a letter with an official date stamp from the ward councillor confirming your residential address
  1. Complete the DRC form – Application for Duplicate Registration/Deregistration Certificate (available for download)
  2. Signed affidavit (to be completed in person at our offices)

Requirements for a Company

  1. Copy of RC1/e-Natis Document (if available)
  2. Copy of Company BRN-Certificate
  3. Copy of Proxy ID
  4. SARS Document confirming VAT number of the Company
  5. Company letterhead nominating a proxy and representative for the company (both must sign and agree on the letterhead)
  6. Proof of Company address (utility bill or Bank Statement)
  • If the utility bill is not in your name, the owner of the bill must make an affidavit declaring you live at the address, attaching the utility bill and a copy of their ID
  • If the company operates from home premises, a company letterhead must be attached stating the owners of said premises, along with their ID copy and proof of address

  2. Signed Affidavit

When do I need to apply for a Duplicate Natis (RC1)?

  1. You need to apply for a Duplicate Natis (Vehicle Registration Certificate) if:
  2. The original vehicle registration certificate has been lost; or
  3. The original certificate has been damaged beyond repair.
  • Note: Always keep the original vehicle registration certificate in a safe place, as obtaining a duplicate is not an easy process.
