Change of Ownerships

FROM BANK TO PRIVATE

  1. Original green NaTIS certificate (RC1).
  2. A copy of the new owner’s identity document.
  3. Proof of address for the new owner (e.g., a utility bill or the first page of a bank statement).
  • If the utility bill is not in the new owner’s name, the person whose name appears on the bill must provide an affidavit confirming that the new owner resides at the listed address. This affidavit must be accompanied by the utility bill and a copy of the account holder’s ID.
  • If the new owner resides in an informal settlement, a letter from the ward councillor confirming the address—officially date-stamped—is required.
  1. A bank settlement letter (must be stamped and signed by the bank).
  2. A copy of the bank proxy’s identity document.
  3. Completed NCO form – Notification of Change of Ownership & Sale:
  • The seller must complete and sign Section A.
  • The buyer must complete and sign Sections B and C.
  1. Completed RLV form – Application for Registration and Licensing of Motor Vehicle:
  • The buyer must complete and sign Sections A and C.
  1. Signed affidavit.

BANK TO PRIVATE COMPANY

  1. Original green NaTIS certificate (RC1).
  2. A copy of the new owner’s identity document.
  3. The new owner's Business Registration Number Certificate (BRNC).
  4. Proof of address for the new owner (e.g., a utility bill or the first page of a bank statement).
  • If the utility bill is not in the new owner’s name, the person whose name appears on the bill must submit an affidavit declaring that the new owner resides at the listed address. This affidavit must be accompanied by the utility bill and a copy of the account holder’s ID.
  1. The bank's Business Registration Number Certificate (BRNC).
  2. A stamped and signed bank settlement letter.
  3. A copy of the bank proxy's identity document.
  4. Completed NCO form – Notification of Change of Ownership & Sale:
  • Section A must be completed and signed by the seller.
  • Sections B and C must be completed and signed by the buyer.
  1. Completed RLV form – Application for Registration and Licensing of Motor Vehicle:
  • Sections A and C must be completed and signed by the buyer.

  • If the utility bill is not in your name, the bill’s account holder must provide an affidavit confirming that you live at the address. This affidavit must be accompanied by the utility bill and a copy of the account holder’s ID.
  • If you reside in an informal settlement, you must submit a letter from the ward councillor confirming your address, bearing an official date stamp.

  3. Copy of the Executor’s identity document.
  4. Roadworthy Certificate.
  5. Completed NCO form – Notification of Change of Ownership & Sale:

When Do I Need to Complete a Change of Ownership?

  1. You are required to complete a Change of Ownership if you:
  • Have purchased a pre-owned motor vehicle;
  • Have completed your finance term on a new or pre-owned motor vehicle; or
  • Are the beneficiary of a deceased estate.
  1. Please note that your vehicle license disc may be blocked due to the following reasons:
  • Other unlicensed vehicles registered in your name; or
  • Outstanding enforcements, such as traffic fines from JMPD or other authorities.
